I turned off the  "Email new Comments" option this morning after receiving about a dozen
comments generated by a spammer.     The "email comments option" obviously releases comments before approval.  Before deleting bad comments there is an option to "Ban IP address"  which may stop 
further comment spam from the spammer computer.  

The Blog has the "Comments are moderated" option on.   Thus comments need to be approved to show up in the blog.    If someone comments to a posting .. you will have to go in and approve the comment.   I believe though if you are logged in and comment it should post ..  I'll have to try that.
