Higgins Lake 2007 had sunshine and warm waters for us. The winds were light but the competition was tough and the Saturday evening dinner party the best ever. Everyone camps together so there is always a lot of hot air blowing in camp. Below skippers gather for instructions.

I arrived late Thursday with several others who were treated to gusty winds on Friday that stretched out the muscles.

It's great to see the camp ground covered with boards of all types and ages. Besides the racers there were several campers there just for the fun plus area locals. The regatta is held the first weekend after Labor Day and South Higgins Lake State Park is quiet then as the summer crowd is long gone.

TABA is one of the oldest windsurfing clubs in the USA dating back to 1977. Initially the club was named Fleet 155, then the Black Swamp Boardsailers and finally the Toledo Area Boardsailing Association. The club membership selects candiates for Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Treasurer and Secretary each fall at a general meeting.

Most of the club's water activites take place at MBSP(Maumee Bay State Park) beach located just a few miles from downtown Toledo. The park beach gives easy access to the wide open waters and winds of Lake Erie. However just a few hundred yards away is also a large inland lake that is idea for learning or taking your first lesson on.

A Membership Form is available.
